Chris Tompkins, The Social Media Chef
“I am a fundamental supporter of education in the online marketing sector (for companies and individuals) and regularly speak at national and international conferences alike (sharing the dias with companies such as Google and YouTube). My goal is to help more people understand how they can leverage the power of social media marketing in order to truly build their business. I am open to help anyone who needs real, honest, direct, no-nonsense advice.
I am also the CEO and Founder of Go! Media International and we are an online marketing strategy and execution firm. Our approach is distinctive and client-focused, and follows four key objectives:
*Understanding your goals and targets
*Creating a dynamic, customized online marketing campaign
*Exploding your online visibility and credibility
*Executing the entire campaign on your behalf
Our philosophy? To custom-build an online marketing campaign that fits you, not every other company around you.
Our goal? Your success. Plain and simple.
My marketing and technology skills have been honed in my 10+ years of professional experience gained studying and working internationally in the UK, USA, South Africa and China to name a few. During this time I personally executed numerous online (and offline) marketing initiatives which fueled my hunger, the passion and the drive in the industry.
In terms of offline marketing, I have also developed and launched aggressive national and international print and radio advertising campaigns, worked extensively in the UK music industry, as well executive producing the national XM radio show “The Family Roundtable” where I secured such celebrities as Augusten Burroughs, Mo’Nique, Steve Doocy, Ed Begley Jr, Scott Hamilton, Faith Evans, Vicki Lawrence and Patti Davis to name a few.
I am currently the host of The Social Media Chef, an internet radio show focusing on the concerns we all have with online marketing as well as cooking tips, tricks and more.
Even more exciting is I am in the final stages of finishing my first book on social media strategy…so look out for it soon!
In my spare time I love cooking, and have been taking culinary classes whenever I can fit them in.
Also, I am the founder the non-profit activity group The Go! League, which serves Western Florida. The mission of the group is to promote diversity while providing my members positive outlets for their talents, through numerous activities such as sports, networking events, cultural events and much more. With over 1,200 members, the group has regularly scheduled outings and is a key supporter of numerous causes.
Whew! I think that about covers it! The best part? I love every minute of everything that I do and feel lucky that I am able to create the life that I have always wanted.

You asked me what your firm could do to help me social media -wise Chris ? I reckon my website would be a great place to start. Not there yet though. Still trying to get Twitter under control, I’m twitterless. I think I have the LinkedIn thing good now. Still need to sort out my blog and my Facebook profile. Yes, oddly enough I do have one but it’s pretty dormant! But, bit by bit, I’ll get there. I can fly a chopper, how difficult can this be?
LIKED your video, you speak very well and come across very well too ! Very interesting and worthwhile background you have Chris. Not just a pretty face !! I am NOT trying to chat you up. You’re too young anyway. I walk with the dinosaurs according to my son (18)
You’ve worked in South Africa. Where ? I’m in Durban. But I’m originally Dutch.
China? I personally think that’s a potential major market. I’m getting my Chinese under control.
A guy that cooks ? That doesn’t happen here in SA!! Favourite cuisine?
I ‘m very impressed with how you come across Chris and I like your approach very much. You have been SO helpful to me and kind! You should do WELL if you’re not already doing that now. It’s highly likely. I’m blonde, remember I’m usually slow!!
All the best
from Outta Africa
